Super Giorgio ?makes Bermuda proud?

Supermarket president Giorgio Zanol secured more than $30,000 for diabetes research after completing the Flora London Marathon in a little over three-and-a-half hours.

The day before his 65th birthday the Lindo?s supermarket managing director completed his 41st marathon on Sunday and raised $33,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in the UK.

He joined around 35,000 competitors in one of the biggest road running races in the world and was able to run two minutes quicker than he managed in last year?s race.

?This week I passed a personal milestone in my life by turning 65, but today is the day for celebration,? he said.

?It was a fantastic experience running the marathon, made even better knowing that I was running for such a worthwhile charity. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Argus and everyone who sponsored me.?

Argus Group president Gerald Simons said: ?Today Giorgio made Bermuda very proud. His months of dedicated training and tireless fundraising paid off when he crossed that finish line. He is an inspiration to us all.?
