Musicians to honour their fallen comrades
Local entertainers, artists and musicians will be featured in a tribute to the Bermudian performers "who have left us within the past five years".
The Bermuda Federation of Musicians and Variety Artists (BFM&VA) plans to honour a host of legendary Bermudian artists who have died, with a show at the Fairmont Southampton.
Artists to be honoured in the November 8 show include radio personality 'Cousin Juicy' and musician Ghandi Burgess. Both died this year.
The show will take place November 8 at 4 p.m. at the Fairmont Southampton, in the amphitheatre where many of the "legends" once performed.
Tickets are $40 at the door. Advance tickets, $30, are available from Shine's Music on St. John's Road or www.bdatix.com.
"We thought that we would take the time to honour all those performers who have passed away in the last five years," said BFM&VA president Wendell 'Shine' Hayward.
"These are people that have really impacted the performing arts scene in Bermuda. They have all, in their own way, made a difference on the Island."
According to Mr. Hayward the show will feature a variety of performances which exemplify the many forms of local art.
"We hope to have visual artists, dancers, singers and other performers that represent the performing arts community in Bermuda," he said.
While Mr. Hayward said that this is not the first event of its kind, he hopes to make it a regular occurrence.
