Between them, Mr. Neville Darrell and Mr. Takbir Sharrieff have many years experience in the Bermuda Police Force.

Mr. Darrell is a former detective sergeant who, during the 1960s, helped set up Bermuda's narcotics squad. He retired from the Force in 1978.

Mr. Sharrieff, who used to be known as Mr. Gary Perinchief until he took up the religion of Islam, is a former Police sergeant, serving between 1963 and 1972.

Dynamark-Supreme Security Services specialises in supplying and installing burglar and fire alarms for homes and businesses. It also operates a round-the-clock alarm monitoring system.

The new company is an amalgamation of the former Dynamark Security Center, which was run by Mr. Darrell, and Mr. Sharrieff's Supreme Security Services.

Dynamark, which is based in the United States, is run on a franchise basis.

DSSS is based at 73 Front Street, the former home of Dynamark, and employs about 10 people.

Mr. Darrell said yesterday: "We fell we can better serve the community if we merge. The recession did not play a part in this.'' After leaving the Police, Mr. Darrell sold life assurance for Kitson and Co.

for several years and then managed a security firm in New York City for two years.

In 1978, he took on a Dynamark franchise in New York and still has offices there, employing three people.

Mr. Sharrieff, a former captain of both the Bermuda national and St. George's Cup Match teams, set up Supreme Security Services in 1976.

He has also worked as a traffic officer and Airport policeman for the Transport Control Department, before leaving in 1987.

He takes into the new company the agency for Ademco, which is the largest manufacturer of security equipment in the world, he said.

Mr. Sharrieff said: "By bringing our resources together, we are able to offer a comprehensive service to the public. They will benefit from the merger.''
