Top four in court battle
Bermuda's top four go in search of glory tonight when the semifinals of squash's national championships are held.
Nick Kyme, the No.1 seed, goes up against the No.4 seed, Tommy Sherratt at 8.40 p.m. at the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association's Devonshire courts, and at 9.20 p.m. Gary Plumstead, No.3 seed, and James Stout, the No.2 seed, do battle.
"James has had the toughest passage through to the semifinals," said Ross Triffitt, Bermuda's director of squash. "He defeated Nick Wiffen last night (Tuesday) in five games 15-4, 6-15, 15-14, 8-15, 15-6.
"All the rest of the players had straight sets victories and it looks like James will be doing it the tough way against Gary."
Triffitt said Plumstead was probably the favourite at the moment.
"He only dropped five points in his first match and only dropped 11 in his next," said Triffitt. "He is looking very strong and very fresh.
"James, who is going to be playing him in the semifinal, has played extremely well, but extremely patchy. His form has been a little bit up and down in his matches. It's difficult to know whether he is going to be consistent enough to win three games."
