Under the direction of Kevin Simmons and Beverley Moniz, the Bermuda Triangle Show is swiftly becoming a dynamic feature of Dockyard night life.

The night opens with a feature act, then moves right into the weekly repertoire of conga lines, limbo dancing and calypso music.

A veteran of the entertainment industry, Mr. Simmons is dedicated to promoting Bermudian musicians and providing entertainment that can be enjoyed by both visitors and locals.

He said: "Initially, the concept was to cater to cruise ships in Dockyard, because Dockyard had very limited entertainment. When you go on vacation, you want to see local entertainment, something homegrown.'' After conducting surveys, however, he realised that interest in local acts ran high amongst Bermudians as well. He said: "I decided we needed to do more for locals.'' To keep the performance fresh for Bermudians, he decided to showcase a different local band at the start of each show.

This week the show opened with a performance by the `Next Level', a fluid new jazz band led by veteran saxophonist Dean Smith.

The regular acts included Bermuda's only fire-eater Brian Butterfield, the glittery limbo dancer GG and one of Bermuda's longest-standing and most colourful calypso bands, the Bermuda Strollers.

A rousing gombey troop stirred up the sand and kicked off the after hours beach party.

Mr. Simmons said: "We have a great line up -- this is the full package.

There's nowhere else on the Island that offers this.'' This was the Bermuda Triangle Show's sixth week running. The show starts at 10 p.m every Wednesday at Snorkel Beach, Dockyard. Admission is $25 and includes two complimentary rum swizzles. Doors open at 9.30 p.m.
