Budding hairdressers will be able to take advantage of the Mizani International Hair Seminar, hosted by The Salon Store and sponsored by the Economic Empowerment Zone Agency (EEZA).

The two-day workshop, which will be held on Sunday July 5 and Monday July 6 at CedarBridge Academy, will provide participants with knowledge of products, applications and techniques from Mizani, a division of L'Oréal USA, the largest ethnic hair product company in the world.

The North East Hamilton Economic Empowerment Zone, which is within King Street to the East, Victoria Street to the South, Cedar Avenue to the West and Pembroke Park to the North, is home to more than 25 beauty businesses.

In the EEZA's ongoing efforts to assist, develop and grow businesses within North East Hamilton, it has agreed to sponsor beauty professionals within the Economic Empowerment Zone who wish to attend the seminar as part of their ongoing professional development.

"We recognise the significance of this event as the first time in many years that an internationally renowned beauty product line has provided training courses right here in Bermuda and therefore fully support any cosmetologists within the EEZ who would like to take advantage of this opportunity," stated Roxanne Christopher, EEZA business development officer.

"The EEZ is abounding with beauty businesses. Our future goal is to position the EEZ as the hub for future cosmetology training on the Island."

On Sunday, business owners, hairstylists and interested members of the public are invited to a free session from 9.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. where they will receive an introduction to the Mizani products as well as information about how modern science and technology are shaping the beauty industry, with an emphasis on using raw materials and environmentally friendly products.

Mizani trainers will then conduct two sessions during the seminar on Monday, where they will use live models to demonstrate the latest relaxation techniques and the pastiche collection of haircuts, the latest designs for professional women.

The Monday seminar costs $60 and is available only to hairstylists and students.
