She has become the first woman ever to collect a Brains of Bermuda trophy.
Mrs. Mitchell teamed up with Mr. Tim Skinner and Mr. Mervyn Moorhead to scoop the Brains of Bermuda 1992 title on Friday night.
Their team, Christ Church Warwick, comfortably came through against The Corner House by 210 points to 150.
The triumphant trio each won a trophy, certificate, and a set of encyclopaedias.
And they also helped boost local charities, including the one they had nominated, PALS.
Runners-up Mr. David Cooper, Mr. Mark Smith and Mr. David Boden were awarded cups and sets of atlases.
The awards ceremony marked the end of a gripping week which saw 40 teams -- 120 players -- pit their wits against each other.
Quizmaster Mr. George Rushe chalked up an amazing 1,521 questions during the week.
The quiz at the Daylesford Theatre on Dundonald Street was broadcast on radio and regularly attracted a full house.
For a delighted Mrs. Mitchell it was sixth time lucky in the quiz, which was launched in 1981.
"It was very close. I think the turning point came with the sound round -- we got all three questions right,'' she said.
She added: "Obviously it's great to be the first woman to be in the winning team.'' Mrs. Mitchell admitted her nerves were a bit frayed before games, but managed to overcome them under the barrage of questions.
Despite the team's name, each of the members come from different groups of churches.
"We are a very ecumenical team,'' laughed Mr. Moorhead, from St. George's.
Mr. Skinner, from Paget, was keen to heap praise on the quiz organisers, The Brains of Bermuda committee.
"They have helped raise a lot of money for charity over the years,'' he stressed.
As for next year, Christ Church Warwick warn they will battle tooth and nail to keep hold of their title.
