Mr. Jewett was playing for the Mariners first team against Renegades at the National Sports Club yesterday afternoon and was trapped at the bottom of a ruck.
When the players got up, Mr. Jewett was left lying on the ground.
Mr. Jewett was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital suffering from a suspected broken vertebrae in his neck. Last night his condition was said to be stable.
He was the third rugby player to be taken to hospital over the weekend -- a Frenchman playing for the Bermudian/French team and an All Black were both injured playing in the World Rugby Classic on Saturday.
Neither player was thought to be seriously hurt.
