Meanwhile, defending junior champion Thomas Hubner breezed through his first round. The number one seed from Germany, got past New York's Lee Paton five and four.

Second seed and Monday's medallist, Paul Evans also enjoyed a comfortable win, six and five, over Bermuda's Bruce Wilkie.
