Cola First Division top guns jostling for position.

Dandy Town can expect to remain atop the tables as they entertain cellar dwelling St. David's in perhaps the most predictable affair.

The Islanders simply have failed to prove themselves worthy of respect, while coach Andrew Bascome appears to have run out of magic.

So far Bascome's troops have lost five of six matches, have the second worst defensive record and absolutely no firepower -- just three goals scored.

Morale is also said to be at an all-time low among what is one of the younger sides in the division, with positive results now desperately needed to boost spirits.

However, it appears unlikely such will happen this weekend against Town, although the Hornets are far from unbeatable.

Most puzzling about the St. John's Road club is their extremely suspect defence.

Coach Mark Trott has not been able to find the right foursome yet, with the rear guard changing from week to week. Trott has even gone so far as to use normal midfield/attackers Devarr Boyles and Lionel Furbert at the centre-back spots and more recently has gone to an assortment of four natural full-backs, with Lloyd Christopher anchoring the middle.

And while few at the club would admit it, Town indeed miss the rangy Diallo Sharrieff and Wayne Campbell, both of whom transferred to Hotels in the off-season.

At Southampton Oval, Rangers and PHC clash in a local derby.

The sides enter level on 10 points apiece, with the Zebras holding fourth place by virtue of goal difference over their neighbours.

Both sides have slowed somewhat following fast starts and what could be better for either than to get back on track with a victory over a hated rival.

PHC have by far the best defence in the league, all the more remarkable by the fact that it is also the youngest, with an average age of little more than 19-years, held together by Dano Outerbridge.

Southampton, though, have the league's most proficient attack spearheaded by Ascento Russell and will likely test the sturdiness of Jack Castle's youthful brigade.

Another Sunday match features seventh placed Boulevard entertaining St.

George's (ninth) at Lord's with signs pointing to yet another defeat for the East Enders.

The Blazers looked in ravishing form in midweek against North Village, thoroughly outplaying the Red Devils, only to fall in extra-time, and now poor St. George's are in line for the fall-out.

Tonight sees Devonshire Colts hosting Village at BAA Field with the latter favoured against a home side that has been inconsistent, losing three matches while winning the same amount.

Bermuda Referees' Association who had threatened to boycott BAA Field following an attack on Leroy Wilson at the weekend, yesterday confirmed that their security concerns had now been addressed by the club and the boycott threat dropped.
