One-Two Race steps into the spotlight when it gets underway tomorrow with 45 solo yachtsmen, including Bermuda's Alan Parris, setting out from Newport, Rhode Island.

The first boat is expected to take around five days for the 800-plus mile first leg crossing, before taking on a one member crew for the return leg to the east coast.

Parris is the lone Bermuda entry in the fleet and only the second ever local to take part, following in the footsteps of Mike Vogley.

He will pilot his 35-foot J105 Learning to Fly and while his chances of winning on the first attempt appear slim, Parris was nonetheless optimistic prior to his departure.

"I'm in the racing division and of course I'm looking to win,'' said Parris at the time. "I'm going out there to compete. Just taking part is an accomplishment in itself, but I've been training quite a bit and I'm looking forward to doing well.

Several events are planned for the competitors by host club St. George's Dinghy & Sports Club.

CRICKET SWITCH CRI Cricket switch Bermuda Cricket Board of Control have announced two alterations to the June 18 schedule for knockout first round matches.

While the games remain unchanged, St. David's and Bailey's Bay have been named as the home teams for their ties against Cleveland and Devonshire Rec.

respectively.

The amended schedule is as follows: Warwick v Somerset Bridge, Western Stars v Nationals, St. David's v Cleveland, Flatts v Southampton Rangers, Police v Social Club, Bailey's Bay v Devonshire Rec., PHC v Willow Cuts, St. George's v Somerset CC.

SHERLOCK RACE RUN Sherlock race Swan's Running Club in conjunction with Southampton Rangers Sports Club will be hosting the second annual Ed Sherlock handicap road race on Sunday morning, starting at 9.00.

The course will run from the club opposite Horseshoe Bay on South Shore, via Camp Road to Middle Road, left to Barnes Corner and back to the club on South Shore Road.

Last year's men's division winner was Jamal Hart while Margaret Leonard took honours in the women's division.

TITANS MEET BAS Titans meet Titans basketball team will hold a meeting for all current players and those interested in playing for the side, tonight at Chaplin Bay (across from entrance to Bermuda Regiment) starting at 6.00 p.m.
