Premier clubs avoid each other in FA Cup

Premier Division teams PHC Zebras, Dandy Town, Boulevard, and Devonshire Colts all avoided each other during yesterday's FA Cup quarter-final draw.

The powerhouses will all be confident of progressing after being drawn against lower league teams in the next round.

Martonmere champions Zebras have been drawn against Commercial League outfit Key West Rangers, and look set to move one step closer to claiming all four trophies this season.

Dandy Town face another Commercial League team, Lobster Pot, in what will be their only shot at hoisting a trophy this campaign. Vice-president Maurice Lowe knows they cannot underestimate their opponents.

"We are not going to take this for granted," Lowe said. "We knew going into the draw we would have a task on our hands.

"Every game is important so we will work hard and prepare for this match. If we do push on from here we have no preference in terms of who we want to play as there are still some big clubs left.

"We want to play good football and let that do the talking."

The tie of the round will undoubtedly be Devonshire Colts and the winner of the Southampton Rangers/Wolves replay, with both First Division sides pushing for promotion and Colts looking to defend their trophy.

The winner of the Boulevard/ St. George's replay will run up against Young Mens Social Club.

The BFA also held the draw for the Women's FA Cup and Commercial K.O. Cup.

In the Commercial K.O. Cup, Tuff Dogs will take on BAA next Tuesday night at 7p.m, while Lobster Pot will face Commercial Leaders MR Onions at 9p.m. at the same venue.

Lobster Pot striker Chukwuma Woods reckons they can make history by winning the FA Cup and Commercial Cup.

"We have to be optimistic with the Dandy Town fixture, as they are in a bit of a slump", said the striker. "If we capitalise on their mistakes we can pull off the upset."

Somerset Hurricanes received a bye in the draw for the Women's FA Cup while holders Prospect lock horns with North Village Lady Rams. Lady Cougars will be looking to reclaim the trophy they relinquished last year when they take on PHC, while last season's beaten finalist Dandy Stars play St. George's Lady Colts.
