Boulevard and PHC -- will be battling for the trophy over the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Somerset, who won the tournament for the first time in the 1992-93 season after five previous losses in the final, are the top qualifiers. They gave themselves an early Christmas present with a 3-0 victory over North Village at Bernard Park yesterday, the fourth home loss for the Red Devils this season.

The Trojans hold a one point lead in what is still a wide open title race.

They lead current cup holders Dandy Town and Boulevard, the '91-92 winners, by one point with PHC a further point back. PHC, who had three straight triumphs in '88-89, '89-90 and '90-91, got through despite managing just a 1-1 draw against Dandy Town yesterday.

Boulevard moved ahead of the Zebras into third place after their 2-0 win over BAA but North Village and Devonshire Colts -- the first two winners of the trophy -- hurt themselves by losing to the Trojans and St. George's.

The trophy was put up in 1978 in memory of the late Bermuda Football Association director, the father of PHC coach Alfie Eve, who will be hoping to help lead the Zebras to a sixth triumph. At five triumphs they have already won it more times than any other team.

The first round of matches will be on Wednesday night with a double header at Somerset. Other venues for the double elimination tournament will be PHC Stadium on Boxing Day, BAA Field (December 28), Devonshire Rec (December 30) and St. David's for the second final on January 1.

Bermudian striker Kyle Lightbourne broke out of a scoring slump by netting twice for English Third Division club Walsall in their 4-3 home win over Hereford Unitedon Saturday.

Lightbourne netted in the 47th and 55th minutes to put fifth-placed Walsall in the lead after trailing 2-1 at the half.

The double strike takes Lightbourne's tally for the season to 11, beating his 10-goal achievement for Walsall last season.
