Fab five
from the previous weekend's matches. There is nothing to be gained from this, other than recognition for a job well done, but at the end of the season it will be interesting to see who appears most.
The inaugural Fab Five are Perry Maybury and Charles Swan of Somerset, Garry Williams of Southampton Rangers, Maxwell Lawrence of Flatts Victoria, and Kenny Phillips of St. George's.
Perry Maybury: Should have been a shoo-in as player of the week. His score of 139 carried Somerset from a dangerous position of 66 for five against Warwick to a winning total of 257. Maybury, recently recalled to the national squad, hit 13 fours and seven sixes. He gave two chances. Medium-pacer Maybury returned to claim two for 30 from seven overs.
Charles Swan: Sentimental choice for player of the week after seven for 19 haul against Warwick. With their morale drained by the batting heroics of Maybury, Warwick proved easy fodder for the stocky medium-pacer. Five of Swan's victims were out bowled or leg before and he was denied a possible eighth because Wallace Minors did not bat due to a suspected broken finger.
Garry Williams: Willow Cuts were in a strong position at 137 for three before the youngster returned for his second spell. Cuts collapsed to 183 all out with Williams claiming five for 23 from 7.1 overs. Rangers will be looking for great things from young Williams in the prolonged absence of soccer professional Kyle Lightbourne.
Maxwell Lawrence: After a couple of years out of cricket, Lawrence returned with a bang on Sunday. True, it was against newcomers PHC, but five catches in a match cannot got unnoticed. Three of the catches were off his own bowling as Lawrence finished with figures of four for seven from eight matches.
Kenny Phillips: The big Grenadian showed he can be valuable with the bat as his unbeaten 25 was the difference in St. George's three-wicket win over Cleveland at Sea Breeze Oval.
