Lewin excels at European Open
races at the European Open Week regatta in Malmo, Sweden.
Lewin, racing in a 150-strong European Dinghy fleet, placed first, fourth and sixth yesterday to make up for being disqualified in one of two races the previous day.
A premature start cost Lewin sixth place in the day's first outing, although she was able to recover and place third the next time out despite being buffeted by 20 to 25 knot winds.
Lewin, bronze medallist at the Pan-American Games in Argentina, is using this regatta and others in her build-up towards the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.
Included in the present fleet are most of the leading European sailors, as the event also serves as a pre-Olympic qualifier.
Next week will see Lewin lining up for the European Championships, also in Malmo.
