PHC stun Police

Right-arm spinner Ellsworth Bean snatched five wickets for 12 runs off just six overs to lead PHC to this surprise three-wicket victory over Police at Police Field yesterday.With Bean in top form, Police were restricted to their lowest score of the season as Shoron Hunt and Cal Waldron gave valuable support by snatching two wickets apiece. Hunt gave up 20 runs from seven overs and Waldron 34 from ten overs.

Right-arm spinner Ellsworth Bean snatched five wickets for 12 runs off just six overs to lead PHC to this surprise three-wicket victory over Police at Police Field yesterday.

With Bean in top form, Police were restricted to their lowest score of the season as Shoron Hunt and Cal Waldron gave valuable support by snatching two wickets apiece. Hunt gave up 20 runs from seven overs and Waldron 34 from ten overs.

Police had just two players who reached double figures, opener Andrew Rollins scoring 33 and Roger Pereira ten.

PHC endured several scares on their way to the winning target, losing their first wicket without scoring and then struggling at 60 for six.

But number three bat Gerald Simons led them to victory with an undefeated 31 while veteran Andre Manders chipped in with ten.

Allan Wilkinson led the Police bowlers with four for 28..

Warwick 89, Som Bridge 69

Despite being bowled out for a meagre 89, Warwick still managed to ‘walk tall' after skittling Bridge for just 69 during this low scoring affair at White Hill Field.

No scorecard was available at press time.

The game between Social Club and Willow Cuts, scheduled for St. John's Field, did not go ahead as the pitch was unfit for play.
