Former insurance broker called to Bar
A former insurance broker was called to the Bar last week by the Bermuda Bar Association after her pupillage at Attride-Stirling & Woloniecki
Kim Wilkerson was welcomed to the Bar as Jan Woloniecki and Rod Attride-Stirling from the law firm and her family looked on in Supreme Court.
Ms Wilkerson's hearing was scheduled to proceed last Friday but Mr. Woloniecki said in his welcoming speech to his pupil Ms Wilkerson that "a strong wind had kept them from coming".
Having the hearing re-scheduled for September 11 did not make Ms Wilkerson feel very confident either and she told Acting Chief Justice Norma Wade-Miller: "I'm not feeling particularly courageous but I know sometimes we have to deal with these things and we must proceed."
She happily accepted her position after working under Mr. Woloniecki and commented on his patience in guiding her through the law.
Ms Wilkerson was called to the Bar in England in 2002 after receiving an Honours degree in law at the University of Buckingham in 2000. In 1984 she received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Property & Casualty Insurance from The College of Insurance in New York. Her work in insurance has guided her to the work she will be performing at Attride-Stirling & Woloniecki. At the law firm she will work within the commercial litigation department specialising in insurance and reinsurance matters.
