No comment from TCD on Peeping Tom cabbie's licence

The Transport Control Department (TCD) has refused to comment on whether a taxi driver will be sanctioned for spying on a woman through her bedroom window.

Raymond Levon, 35, is in jail awaiting sentence for looking through the victim's window, and then breaking in to "get another peek". TCD director Randy Rochester yesterday refused to say whether Levon would be allowed to keep his taxi licence.

He said he couldn't comment due to "an ongoing Police investigation".

Levon, a married father-of-two, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court this week to prowling, invading a woman's privacy, and trespassing.

A spokesman for the Bermuda Taxi Association said it wasn't authorised to suspend or disqualify drivers.

The spokesman said such decisions fell to the director of TCD or the Public Service Vehicles Board.

Police arrested Levon after he left a note on the victim's door telling her he was single and wanted to become her friend.

Crown counsel Takiyah Burgess said the victim was lying naked in her bedroom watching television on July 24 when she heard a noise and became alarmed.

The next day she noticed a bucket had been placed on the ground outside her bedroom and when she stood on it, she realised she could see inside her bedroom.

That afternoon, she found a note attached to her door in a plastic twist from the defendant with his name and number.

Levon admitted the offences when questioned by Police.

He is expected to return to court on September 17.
