TV `Row' has been resolved
they have been manipulated as "nonsense.'' Mrs. Louise Jackson was speaking after a broadcast squabble over whether a ZFB TV show was contravening advertising regulations.
Mrs. Jackson told The Royal Gazette that she had not been involved in any "row'' and that the matter had been resolved some time ago.
The matter is over Realty Bermuda which looks at property on the market on the Island. The programme goes into some of the more expensive properties, detailing points about each home and giving the price. It also features realtors introducing their properties.
VSB contacted ZBM Chief Executive Officer Mr. Rick Richardson on Monday to determine whether the station had been informed by Mrs. Jackson that Realty Bermuda was to be taken off the air.
Mr. Richardson denied this and claimed VSB owner Mr. Ken DeFontes and Telecommunications Officer Mr. Ted Pitman were behind any move to have Realty Bermuda taken off the air.
Mr. DeFontes replied to the accusations saying Mr. Richardson should "get his facts right.'' Mrs. Jackson described the link with Mr. DeFontes as "absolute nonsense.'' She said: "This was brought in from within the Broadcast Commissioners.
"We sent a letter to the BBC/ZBM because there was a small problem that we had with the amount of advertising. There was no argument it was a small glitch.
"They wrote back to say they were changing it and it was settled, the programme is now going on as normal. It was resolved amicably.'' The programme was thought to be contravening rules that allows for just over six minutes of advertising to be allowed every hour.
