Jones takes five wickets for victorious Rangers

Janeiro Tucker hammered 96 and Rohaan Simons chipped in with a fine innings of 63 to lead Premier Division leaders Rangers to a 19-run victory at Lords yesterday.
Rangers always looked certain to make a good total once openers Dion Stovell and veteran Keith Wainwright put on 40, although the former was dropped twice.
Tucker and Simons then steered Rangers to a seemingly unbeatable position with a fifth wicket stand of 159. Also among the runs were Malachi Jones with 27, Wainwright 20 and Stovell 17.
Del Hollis and McLaren Lowe each took three wickets for the home side, Hollis finishishing with three for 39 off 10 overs, while Lowe took three for 36 off three overs.
Despite a gallant fight back St. David's fell short of their target while facing 46.2 overs. It proved to be a terrific day for Lowe who top scored for the East Enders with 73, striking seven fours and four sixes. He and Borden put on115 for the first wicket, Borden finishing on 55.
Malachi Jones tore the heart out of the remainding batsmen with a haul of five for 52.
Young Men's Social Club 239
Cleveland County 221
Young Men's Social Club saw off a spirited Cleveland County side by 18 runs at Devonshire Rec.
Batting first, the home side was in a spot of bother at 89 for five, but Charlie Marshall (56) and Kevin Hurdle (30) went about repairing the innings.
Marshall departed with the total at 181 for nine and a late order knock of 60 by Jeffrey Tyrrell guided the blue birds to a more then reasonable total of 239 all out.
Barry Gibbons took three for 36 and was helped by Carlton Smith, who took three for 50 and Gregory Talbot, who claimed two scalps for 32 runs.
Cleveland, minus Dwayne Leverock and Clay Smith, both of whom are away with the national side, were 129 for three before the wheels fell off of the their runs chase.
Charles Richardson led Cleveland by posting 54 in his innings while Carlton Smith (39), Jason Simons (34) and Dennis Musson Jr. (27) all applied themselves to the task required, but fell 18 runs short.
Openers Stephen Douglas and Courtney Trott both scored 12 apiece to assist.
Social Club's best bowler was Kenny Philips who took three for 28, while Kani Darrell dug in to take three for 33.
St. George's 244-8
Somerset CC 207
A late but spirited ninth-wicket partnership of 130 runs between Reid Jones and Shane Hollis fell short of steering the West Enders to victory over their hosts at Wellington Oval yesterday.
While St. George's were forced to sweat it out during their stand the home team still wound up winning by 37 runs, thanks to the bowling of Gregg Foggo and Machai Hodsoll who each took two wickets.
Jones led the great fight back by Somerset with a fine knock of 87.
They revived their team's fading hopes at 75 for eight by taking the total to 205 before the Somerset innings finally ended after 40.4 overs.
The other high bat for the visitors was Wendell Dottin with 17 while skipper Hasan Durham struck 14.
Earlier St. George's reached their formidable score with three players coming just short of their half-centuries. Troy Hall top scored on 46 while John Pitcher followed on 44, Herbie Bascome 42 and Rudell Pitcher 30.
Hollis and Jones proved to be the heros of the day for the having excelled with the ball also, the former taking two for 28 off 10 overs, while Jones finished with two for 46 off nine overs.

Devonshire Rec. 210
Police had an easy go of things as they saw off Devonshire Rec. by eight wickets at Police field.
Devonshire Rec. posted a respectable total of 210 in the 50 overs with Ian Armstrong (55) and veteran Allan Richardson (47) leading the target setting duties for the visitors.
Anderson Cumberbatch was the pick of the Police bowlers with figures of five for 48, while Tradie Simpson chipped in with three for 30.
Police got to their mark with seven overs to spare, with openers Delroy Taylor (117) and Garvin Aparicio (78) leading the onslaught as they put together a 200 run first wicket partnership.
Dennis Williams and Oladapo Fredericks both split a wicket apiece for 25 and 26 runs respectively.

Willow Cuts 204-5
Veteran batsman Dexter Basden struck an undefeated century to lead Willow Cuts to a five-wicket triumph over Western Stars at Somerset CC.
The former Somerset CC Cup Match opener and skipper was in top form helping his team fight back after the visitors had put up a respectable score by surpassing the double-century mark.
Basden finish on 103 not out and struck four sixes and 11 fours, joining Reggie Tucker in a fifth wicket stand of 108 runs. Tucker contributed 36 as Cuts reached their winning target off 41.5 overs.
Justin Robinson was the top bowler for Stars with two wickets for 41 runs off 6.5 overs while Raymond Butterfield claimed two for 43.
Treadwell Gibbons Jr. was high man for Stars with 64, Jah Millett followed on 37 and Brian Hall 34.
Jermaine Trott took four for 49 off 8.5 overs for Cuts.
Warwick 285-3
PHC 284-8.
Chris Douglas hit an unbeaten century as Warwick pipped PHC by a mere run at St. John's field.
Douglas scored 122 not out to lead his team to their formidable total, Daniel Morgan following on 51 and Sammy Robinson 38. Douglas and Morgan put on 97 for the opening stand.
Daniel Caines spearheaded PHC in their response with a fine 67, obtaining good support from team-mates Cal Waldron (48), Sheridan Ming 47 and Jason Anderson 42 only to fall just short of their winning target.
Douglas was also Warwick's top bowler with two for 49.
Leg Trappers defeated Bailey's Bay by 63 runs at Sea Breeze Oval, while Flatts defeated Somerset Bridge by 95 runs in the other First Division fixtures.
