Masters swimmers among the medals
Veteran Bermuda swimmers Colleen Nelson and Christopher Smith both picked up medals when they competed at the Canadian Masters Championships in Quebec City.
Nelson, in her final year in the 55-59 age group, held off all but 55-year-old Canadian champion Cathy Merritt, to pick up one gold and seven silver medals in eight events.
The Warwick resident grabbed gold in the 50 metres breaststroke along with silvers in the 50m, 100m and 200m freestyle, the 100m breaststroke and 100m butterfly and the 100m and 200m individual medley races.
Smith, 76, dominated his age group, picking up seven golds and one silver, breaking two Canadian and four Ontario records in the process. His success came in the 200m and 400m freestyle, 200m and 400m IM, the 200m and 50m butterfly and the 100m breaststroke.
