Marshall ton lifts St. George's
St. George's 271-9
Somerset 251-9
Cricket fans will be in for a real treat this Cup Match if the wicket at Somerset is as friendly to the batsmen as it was during yesterday's Premier Division clash which saw the east enders carve out a 20-run victory.
Enjoying the batting strip most were Charlie Marshall and Curtis Jackson, who produced centuries for their respective clubs St. George's and Somerset. Marshall stroked 112 and Jackson 122.
Marshall was the first to explode, slamming six sixes and 10 fours to fire the visitors to their huge total.
Others among the runs were openers Sinclair Gibbons and Mark Ray with 26 apiece, Detroy Smith (21), Gregg Foggo (18) not out and Fred Hall Jr. (13).
Two Somerset bowlers survived with impressive figures, medium-pacer Shane Hollis taking three for 24 off just four overs while Tony Cheeseman claimed three for 45 off 10 overs.
Speaheaded by the ferocious batting display of Jackson, the home team came within striking distance of winning before running out of overs.
Jackson tore the bowling to shreds with some aggressive strokes, finishing with 12 sixes and five fours, his century coming off 100 balls while batting for 122 minutes.
Like St. George's, Somerset openers got their score just above the half century mark before Jackson strode to the wicket to dominate the proceedings.
Opener Sheridan Ming scored 50 and partner Cheeseman 26 to set the tone. When Jackson got to the crease the score was 65 for one and when he was eventually out Somerset were 251, Jackson being the last dismissal as overs ran out.
Ray and Travis Smith each took three wickets for St. George's, and both conceded 50 runs off 10 overs.
Cleveland 92
Southampton Rangers 94-2

Only three Cleveland batsmen reached double figures. Charles Richardson led the way with 22 while Wilton Woolridge followed with 18 and Courtney Trott 14.
