Casinos would add nightlife

Dear Sir,

Think about it for a minute. There is no gambling in Bermuda. People who come to Bermuda now are not gamblers. If you only survey people "in" Bermuda you are getting a slanted view.

I happen to love Bermuda and if a casino were built, it is unlikely that I would go in. However I have many, many friends who go to Aruba and other Islands because they have casinos! Bermuda "used" to have international entertainers and local shows at the old Clayhouse Inn (Esso Steel Band & Coca Cola Steel Band) but all that is gone. Other than a few dance/disco clubs and drinking there isn't much going on at night.

I still think a good compromise would have been to allow the ships in port to open their casinos after 10 p.m. when all the stores are closed and most people who have gone out to eat "off ship" have already done so. So why not let the Cruise Line make some dollars too?
