Squash juniors star at CASA Champs
Bermuda's junior squash team returned from the CASA Junior Squash Championships in Cayman, having produced impressive performances in both the individual and team events.
Noah Browne, Micah Franklin, Emma Keane and D'Vario Thompson all made their mark.
Browne took the boys' Under-17 title, beating Guyana's Jason Ray in four sets while Franklin lived up to his billing as the second best junior in the Caribbean by reaching the Under-19 final where he succumbed to the talented Cameron Stafford of Cayman.
Keane, meanwhile, reached the semi-finals of the Under-15 girls' tournament, where she pushed top seed Victoria Arjoon all the way before losing. However, she bounced back to claim third place with a five-set win over Mary Mahfood of Jamaica, 15-13 8-11 11-8 4-11 11-8.
Thompson rounded out a collection of fine individual performances, beating Jamaica's David Mullings 7-11 11-8 8-11 11-8 11-4 to claim third place in the Under-15 competition.
The boys' team battled to sixth place after narrowly losing to the Jamaicans, while the girls managed to reach the semi-finals before losing in the third place play-off match to Trinidad & Tobago.
Several others made the trip to compete in their first international matches for Bermuda – Madeleine Rose, Dylan Pratt, Christian Hillen, Beckett Simmons, Beau Orchard, Chris Stout, Alex Marshall, Kelly Barnes, Rachel Barnes and Nazhir Smith.
