Up to 500 relatives are expected to pass through the Island as they leave and join a three-strong fleet of US Navy vessels, moored at Five Fathom Hole.

The "Tiger Cruise'' is a goodwill gesture for the families, some of whom will sail home to the US on board the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy , cruiser Seattle and supply vessel Monterey .

Agents John S. Darrell said the relatives will be ferried to and from the ships from Ordnance Island during the day. The ships will then depart for the US.

Meanwhile, Meyer reported the Somers Isles' 500th sailing last week. And to mark the occasion, the vessel delayed its departure for Florida until Monday, so a reception could be held in its honour.

Last week it brought in 100 containers, three refrigerated, three boats, three commercial trucks and 56 bundles of building materials.

The cable ship Iberus is moored at Dockyard and will depart today. The vessel stopped to take on board crew and technicians, and drop off cable.

John. S. Darrell had the propane gas tanker Coral Acorpora in at the oil docks, Ferry Reach, on Saturday.
