Police hunt for sex tape of teen girl
Police revealed last night that they have launched an investigation following reports of a sex tape involving a teenage girl being distributed around the Island.
Police spokesman Dwayne Caines confirmed on Friday that officers were investigating ?a sexual complaint? lodged with Police mid-week but would not make any other comment.
?For legal reasons we are not permitted to speak any further,? he said. ?However, an investigation is ongoing.?
Rumours about the ?tape? have been circulating on the Island for more than a week.
It remained unclear last night as to how the footage was filmed, though it is believed that it may have been on a cell phone and could have been transmitted to others electronically without the girl?s consent.
Michelle Wade, director of Teen Services, said she was not aware of the tape but added: ?It?s not surprising. It?s just something that we as a community, as a team, we have to check into.?
She said: ?I?m sure it?s very stressful for that young lady. It?s just warped. There are lots of issues here to do with choices, betrayal, parental supervision.
?We have to make sure that our young people are in a position where they feel they don?t have to be engaged in certain behaviours.
?People have to have a conscience. It seems like the balance between right and wrong is skewed.?
