Dunkley pays for phone calls
Alderman David Dunkley has paid back the Corporation of Hamilton for personal overseas calls he made on his Corporation cell phone.
A spokeswoman for the Corporation told The Royal Gazette last night: "The cell phone charges were paid today."
This newspaper reported on Tuesday that Mr. Dunkley owed thousands of dollars for calls made between June, 2006 and April, 2007.
We obtained copies of two Corporation telephone bills showing he made international calls amounting to $1,363 in March last year and to $1,030 the following month.
A source claimed he racked up bills totalling almost $7,500 over an 11-month period. The Corporation would not reveal the exact amount owed but confirmed he had "outstanding cell phone balances" which he had promised to settle in full by yesterday.
