Everest Re yesterday announced that its regular quarterly dividend will double to $0.48 per share. This dividend will be payable on or before March 23, 2007 to shareholders of record as of March 5, 2007.

Chairman and chief executive officer Joseph Taranto said: "We are pleased to have doubled our dividend to shareholders for the second time in six months. This action, reflective of Everest's strong core earnings, demonstrates the board's commitment to effective capital management focused on building long-term shareholder value."
