Swim coach Newby dies, aged 57

Duncan Newby, who coached several of the Island’s top swimmers and runners, has died at his home in England.
Duncan Newby, once one of the top swimmers and swim coaches in Bermuda, has died at his home in Cornwall, England.
He was 57 years old.
The former Warwick Academy teacher, who also coached athletics, had been battling cancer for 10 years.
Before arriving in Bermuda in the 1980s he had represented Great Britain in swimming.
Newby was on the Island last year when he swam in the annual Round the Sound event.
He leaves his wife Marie.
A service to celebrate to his life will be held on Monday at 4 p.m. in Truro, Cornwall.
