Remote control racers set for battle in St.David's

Bermuda Nitro Racing Association's (BNRA) Championship Race will be held next weekend at Southside, St. David's, with both buggy and truck races taking place.

The races will be held next Saturday with visiting professional Paul Coleman among the competitors vying for honours.

Coleman has visited the Island on several occasions, racing locals on the domestic circuit.

"Paul Coleman has been coming to Bermuda to race almost every year and he definitely puts up a good challenge for the racers here," said Jason Bento, technical director of the BNRA website. "We will be racing remote control ?th scale gas powered buggies and ?th scale gas powered trucks,"

Bento said the sport was a family affair. He said: "Keeping the youth of Bermuda away from violence and other activities which hinder them in the long run of their lives.

"We think that it would help the youth stay out of trouble and it gives them something to work on almost every day.

"This is a great day to bring out the family and enjoy a fun day.

"This would be a great time for families to come out with their children and have some fun, meeting all the racers and enjoying some remote control action."

The races will begin at 1 p.m. next Saturday with practice beginning in the morning.
