Coach Best confident ahead of cup tie
Bermuda's youth team have been quick to settle in the Cayman Islands ahead of their two-leg CONCACAF Zone World Cup qualifying match with the home country.
Bermuda have given up home advantage for the two matches tomorrow and Tuesday evening but technical director Clyde Best is still confident they will advance to the next round.
"I feel good about it, everything's fine and we're ready to go,'' said Best last night, soon after the team returned from a training session at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex where the matches will be played.
The team had two light training sessions yesterday and another light session is scheduled for today before the side is finalised for Sunday's match. Both games will be played in the evening, in the cooler part of the day.
"I think it's a wonderful facility, I wish we could pick it up and bring it home,'' said Best of the ground which will host the two matches. "It has covered stands on both sides.'' John Barry Nusum, likely to be the captain, will be switched to defence in the absence of his Wolves team-mate Joey Rego who could not make the trip because of school.
Nusum is expected to play sweeper with Kofi Dill doing the marking job in the heart of the defence.
Ralph Bean Jr also had to pull out of the trip for the same reason as Rego and his place was taken in the squad by Ernest Signor.
College students Khano Smith and Sullivan Smith and Steven Astwood are likely to be the front players while Jelani Scott, Jameiko Jennings, Aaron Williams, Clevon Hill and Jermel Simmons are battling for midfield places.
If Bermuda get through they will meet either Jamaica, St. Vincent or Barbados in the next round in Trinidad and Tobago.
Bermuda squad: Thomas Smith, Jay Smith, Jermaine Dill, Robert Wilson, Kofi Dill, Jermel Simmons, Jelani Scott, Aaron Williams, Clevon Hill, Khano Smith, Sullivan Phillips, Jameiko Jennings, Devon DeGraffe, Daniel Jennings, John Nusum, Steven Astwood, Ernest Signor.
