Police call to ‘work together to make an enjoyable National Heroes Day holiday’
Police will be out in force to check for Covid-19 regulation breaches over the holiday weekend – as well as conducting speed and drink driving checkpoints.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Martin Weekes said: “As part of our efforts to help make this holiday weekend enjoyable, the police service alongside our Reserve colleagues, will be actively engaged in keeping our roads safe by conducting speed checks and road sobriety checkpoints.”
He added police would also work alongside the Department of Environmental Health on Covid-19 compliance, which would include visits to businesses and restaurants to “ensure that patrons and establishments, do not let down their guard on engaging in the appropriate health and safety guidelines”.
Mr Weekes said the police would also provide “extra resources to support and work alongside the officers of the Bermuda Coastguard to bolster their marine policing response this holiday weekend and to monitor Covid compliance as well as to deter antisocial behaviour on the water”.
He added: ”Let’s all work together to make this an enjoyable National Heroes Day holiday.”
