Mr. Boyle, the flamboyant owner of Scottish football team Motherwell, is said to be inviting Scottish entrepreneur Tom Hunter, lingerie tycoon Michelle Mone and big names from the sporting world.

Mr. Boyle made his wealth as co-founder and chairman of Direct Holidays and now invests in companies in the fields of technology, media and printing sectors, says the newspaper.

It adds that he is known for his charity work with orphans in Romania.

A friend is quoted as saying: "John and Donna are looking forward to their wedding very much. They have been together for more than a year now and are delighted that they are going to be able to enjoy a happy day with friends and family.

"John has really pushed the boat out with the arrangements. He wants this to be a wedding to remember and obviously with his wealth he can afford to do just that."
