Author encourages local writers

Author Lynn Joseph

Got writer’s block? Trinidadian author Lynn Joseph is here to help.

She has decided to host a series of workshops to help local writers hone their craft, the first of which takes place this evening from 6pm until 8pm.

Workshops will also be held on Saturdays between 10am and 5pm.

Ms Joseph worked as an apprentice with publishing giants Harper & Row, now HarperCollins, after she graduated from university.

“I learned everything about editing and writing during my time there and my first work I submitted was bought and published by another group,” she said.

That book, called ‘Coconut Kind Of Day’, was about a little girl growing up in Trinidad.

Since then she has published picture books, a collection of poems and young adult novels.

Wednesday drop-in sessions are $30 at CV Cafe on York Street in St George’s. Saturday workshops are $130. To register, e-mail bermudawriters@gmail.com.
