Interim national coach Arnold Manders remained tight-lipped on the circumstances that led to top all-rounder Dion Stovell being left out of Bermuda’s squad for yesterday’s 50 overs match with Melbourne Cricket Club.Stovell was unavailable for Saturday’s match but was expected to return to Bermuda’s line-up for yesterday’s contest which the visitors won by five wickets.When asked why the Southampton Rangers skipper had been left out of the team, Manders simply replied: “No comment.”However, it is alleged that Stovell was left out of the team as punishment for turning up to the ground late for the tour match.Bermuda’s team for yesterday’s match underwent two changes from the one that defeated the visitors by 34 runs 24 hours earlier, with all-rounders Malachi Jones and Rodney Trott coming in to replace Lionel Cann and Sammy Robinson. Cann was unavailable due to conflicting commitments while Robinson was dropped.Bermuda and Melbourne will lock horns for the third time in four days in tomorrow’s tour finale at Somerset Cricket Club (11am).Skipper Stephen Outerbridge and Cann have been ruled out through work commitments while teenaged all-rounder Kamau Leverock was due to return to studies in the UK last night.Melbourne will be without skipper Andre McCarthy who is due to leave the Island tomorrow to rejoin Jamaica’s national one-day team, who are preparing for their upcoming Super50 semi-final clash with Windward Islands at Kensington Oval in Barbados.Melbourne coach and former West Indies batsman Robert Samuels has yet to announce a replacement skipper for top all-rounder McCarthy.
