Independent — Kim SwanKim Swan contested four general elections over a 25 year period before being elected MP for St Georges West in the 2007 general election.Immediately prior to entering the House of Assembly he served for nine years as a Senator, the last six of which were as Opposition Senate Leader.Mr Swan has also served for close to four years as Leader of the United Bermuda Party starting in January 21, 2008.But he was forced to resign as Leader of the Official Opposition in May 2011 when most of the UBP legislators decided to found the One Bermuda Alliance.Mr Swan was one of two MPs who insisted on serving out his term as a UBP MP even after his former colleagues voted to disband the party.Kim Swan received his primary and secondary education at Southampton Glebe, The Berkeley Institute and Warwick Secondary Schools before heading off to the United States for university.He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Troy State in Alabama and has enjoyed a successful career as a professional golferPLP — Renee Anderson-MingMother of three children, Renee Anderson-Ming was born in St. Georges and has deep roots in the community.A volunteer on the African Diaspora Heritage Trail and the World Heritage Site Committee, she attends Richard Allen AME Church and has served on the St. George’s Parish Council since 2010.In 2009, she was first elected to the post of Common Councillor for the Corporation of St. George’s and chaired the Activities Committee. In 2011, she was appointed to a special committee to work toward bringing a Marina and Boutique Hotel to the Olde Towne.In 2012, Mrs Ming was elected to the post of Alderman and chaired the Property and Office Administration Committees, but she has now resigned from the council to focus on her general election candidacy.She was also a member of the Security Committee, Finance Committee and the St. George’s Preservation Authority.“I bring a fresh perspective, a very strong voice and a commitment to ensure that St George’s is never ignored.”OBA Nandi DavisTwenty-five-year-old Nandi Davis has a degree in business and computer applications and is among the youngest ever to run for elective office in Bermuda.A mother of a two year old, Ms Davis works for a fund administrator and is studying for an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants designation through evening classes at the Bermuda College.Ms Davis is also an athlete and has represented Bermuda in several meets around the world, including Carifta Games in the Bahamas.While some have expressed concern about her lack of experience, Ms Davis told The Royal Gazette that her youth has encouraged other young people to be involved.“People didn’t even know you could be in politics at this age,” she said. “They thought you had to be like 30 and above. It’s amazing what people didn’t know.”Her key goals are to push for improvements in public transportation and the education system.“God has put us on this earth for free. And my only way to pay rent is to serve when I have the opportunity to.”
