A Pembroke man was banned from driving after he crashed his car on Crow Lane.Reginald Lamb-Thompson, 20, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to driving while impaired on September 17.Crown counsel Tawana Tannock told the court that at around 4.07am that day, officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision near the Crow Lane roundabout.When they arrived on the scene, they found a damaged car in the westbound lane.They were told that the vehicle was travelling at a high rate of speed when Lamb-Thompson lost control of the vehicle trying to avoid a stationary bus.The defendant was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired and taken to Hamilton Police Station, where he agreed to offer a breath sample.According to the lowest recorded reading, Lamb-Thompson had 270mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood, more than three times the legal limit of 80mg.Pleading guilty, Lamb-Thompson apologised to the court and his family, saying: “I will be sure to learn from this.”Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Lamb-Thompson $1,000 and banned him from driving all vehicles for 12 months.
