A 27-year-old man who crashed his car on Harbour Road was banned from driving after he was found to be four times over the blood/alcohol limit.Brandon Brockett pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to driving while impaired and driving without a valid driver’s licence.Crown counsel Robert Welling said that at around 2.58pm on July 24, police responded to a traffic collision.It appeared as though a car, driven by Brockett, had collided with a wall and spun into the other lane, striking a second vehicle.The officers smelled alcohol on Brockett and arrested him on suspicion of driving while impaired.Mr Welling said after Brockett was arrested he repeatedly verbally threatened the officers despite warnings not to.A breath test revealed that he had 325ml of alcohol in 100mg of blood, just over four times the legal limit of 80ml.Appearing in court in custody, Brockett pleaded guilty, apologising to the officers.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Brockett $1,000 for driving while impaired. He also banned him from driving all vehicles for one year and fined him another $100 for not having a valid licence.
