CedarBridge Academy singers bring Christmas cheer with 'Our Favourite Things'
Family, friends and other fellow supporters came out on Friday night for CedarBridge Academy's Christmas showcase entitled 'Our Favourite Things'.
All were excited to witness performances by the school's top vocalists.
The show went off effortlessly with opening numbers from the entire choral ensemble.
The talented students treated the audience to renditions of familiar Christmas classics such as Silent Night.
The students showcased their talents in choral singing, solo performances and even a bit of acting.
The main attraction of the show was a 'Home for the Holidays' themed 'Christmas special'; and included solos of familiar holiday tunes that warmed the hearts of all who listened.
Shortly after the performances, The Royal Gazette spoke with a few of the soloists.
Students Antonio Roberts and Jason Richardson have been singing for almost their whole lives.
The students reached a general consensus that receiving recognition from the audience was their favourite part of the night.
Eighteen-year-old Tannecia Irving-Smith gave a powerful performance that left the audience in chills.
When asked if she was nervous before performing, she replied, "I was a little nervous before my performance. But I was calm as soon as I heard the music."
To prepare for the show, Tannecia attended practices everyday with her fellow classmates, as well as gaining help from her vocal coach. Vernon Harrison, aged 16 was last to give his remarks and said that he recommends this experience and would love to do it again.
He stated, "I recommend this to anyone who would want to come and gain a strong Christian message through the songs".
All the students who participated that night were full of enthusiasm and where greatly appreciated by their friends and family.
The talent of the CedarBridge 'Vocal Ensemble' surely brought their heart-warmed audience into the spirit of the Holiday season.
