Cabbie robbed at gunpoint on Sunday morning

A taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint over the weekend the fourth incident involving taxi drivers in the past three months.

Police said that at 3.05 a.m. on Sunday, the taxi driver picked up a fare in Hamilton. The man asked to be taken to Bailey's Bay and when the taxi arrived, the driver was directed to Callen Glen Drive. When the taxi stopped, two men approached the vehicle, one with what appeared to be a firearm.

All three suspects left the scene on foot with a quantity of cash heading east along the Railway Trail. The taxi driver, a 65-year-old Devonshire man, was not injured.

On May 27 a 61-year-old taxi driver picked up two men on Palmetto Road, Devonshire, and drove them to Lime House Lane, in Hamilton Parish.

The taxi stopped and one man left the vehicle but returned with what appeared to be a firearm. He then demanded money from the taxi driver, who handed over a quantity of cash.

On May 22, a 30-year-old Sandys Parish taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint. He was in the Prospect, Devonshire, area to pick up a fare when he was flagged down by a female. Two men then approached the taxi, one with a gun and the suspects forced the taxi driver to out of the vehicle and told him to empty his pockets.

On March 18, a 44-year-old taxi driver was flagged down on Watlington Road East, Devonshire.

As the taxi came to a stop, a man approached the taxi driver, demanded money while brandishing what appeared to be a firearm.

The taxi driver handed over a quantity of cash and the suspect escaped as a passenger on a nearby waiting motorcycle.

In the latest, the suspects are described as a brown skinned male wearing a blue hat with a white peak, a white T-shirt and blue jeans. He was clean shaven and believed to be aged in his 20s and was the passenger.

The second suspect was described as approximately five foot five inches tall, wearing a dark coloured hooded top. He is also believed to be in his 20s and had the alleged firearm. The third suspect was described as heavy set, wearing all red clothing.
