Speight elected to ICC board

Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive Neil Speight has been elected to the International Cricket Council's (ICC) executive board for a two-year term.

Speight's appointment gives the Island representation at the highest level in both cricket and football.

Bermuda Football Association (BFA) president Larry Mussenden is the chairman of the appeals committee for FIFA, and BFA general secretary David Sabir is a member of the stadium and security committee.

The executive board is the highest level of governance in the ICC and is responsible for managing their affairs and advancing their objectives. It is made up of representatives from each full member country and three representatives elected by the associate members.

The nominees for this year's election were Samir Inamder, of Kenya, Imran Khwaja, from Singapore, Rene van Ierschot, of the Netherlands, Israel's Stanley Perlman and Speight.

Speight said: "I believe that this elevation is in part a reflection of the esteem that Bermuda is now held in world cricket, we participated at the World Cup, the U19s got to the World Cup and the ladies qualified for the World Cup qualifier."

President of the BCB, Reggie Pearman, said: "This is the first time a representative from the Americas Region and, indeed, Bermuda has been elected to the executive committee of the ICC.
