Spin king Leverock makes ICC 'dream team'
Dwayne (Sluggo) Leverock has been rewarded for his stellar season with the Bermuda national team by being selected for the ICC Intercontinental Cup Team of the Tournament.
Leverock, who was the Island's most consistent performer throughout the tournament, is Bermuda's first player to make the 'dream team', which is dominated by the two finalists, Namibia and Ireland.
The Cleveland spinner, who was Bermuda's leading wicket taker in the tournament, claiming more than 30 scalps, emphasised that with hard work comes success and recognition.
"It's an honour to be selected and recognised by the associate nations, said Leverock after the team was announced.
"The team is supposed to be the best players outside the Test nations and it's a dream come true to be acknowledged by the ICC.
"Hard work and practice throughout the years has allowed me to be where I am now – being recognised by my peers who believe I've the ability to be in this team.
"It shows with hard work anything can be achieved and we do have the talent here in Bermuda. It's only a matter of applying yourself and listening to what the coaches are telling you.
"I don't see why any of my team-mates can't make into this side as well with the right dedication and work ethic.
"I know they are putting in the hard work and if they continue to do so they will be recognised regularly by other countries.
"It's a matter of being consistent and that has been the hallmark of my career."
In total, 12 players were selected by a five-person panel to make the team, which also includes two players from Kenya and one each from Canada, the United Arab Emirates.
Only performances in the ICC Intercontinental Cup 2007-08 were considered and of the eight competing team just Scotland and the Netherlands are not represented.

A specially assembled panel of experts selected the team after the coaches and captains of each of the eight competing teams were asked to make their nominations.
