Police Service issues Halloween warning

Police will be out in force tomorrow to help protect families celebrating Halloween. Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police James Howard said yesterday that Police will be in high visibility tomorrow night, and will have zero tolerance for illegal behaviour.

"We are mindful that there are persons withing our community who will use this opportunity to commit unlawful acts which may cause injury to persons or damage to property," he said. "Such behaviour will not be tolerated.

"The Police Service is aware that there will be Halloween parties throughout the Island and ask that patrons to these events act in a responsible manner, which does not include operating a motor vehicle if you have consumed any alcohol. As part of our Halloween objectives, there will be a zero tolerance approach to this type of offence."

To help prevent vandalism, Police are asking parents and store owners to be on the lookout for people purchasing large quantities of eggs or gasoline, both of which have been used against Police and members of the public.

The Police are also asking adults with trick-or-treaters to be careful, using flashlights and wearing brightly coloured clothing.
