Man apologises for impaired riding
A guest worker pleaded guilty to driving while impaired when he appeared in Magistrates' Court.
Samay Vithlani, 26, was heading east on South Road, in Paget, on May 1 when he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a sidewalk, the court heard.
Police found Vithlani at 4.07 p.m. while he was standing on the side of the road next to his damaged cycle.
According to Senior Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney, officers noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath. When asked if he had been drinking, he replied in an incoherent manner.
Vithlani apologised to the court. "I am really sorry for this," he said. "I promise I will never do it again."
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Vithlani $1,000 and disqualified him from driving for one year.
