Ten days in jail for drug paraphernalia

An odd job man found carrying a glass bottle for smoking cocaine was sentenced to ten days in jail yesterday.

Clinton Kevin Smith, 33, of no fixed abode, admitted possession of drugs equipment at Magistrates' Court.

Crown counsel Larissa Burgess said Police officers searched him after being called to a fight at Albuoy's Point in Hamilton on September 23 last year.

Smith, who is now serving a four-year jail term for another offence, was seen walking away from the scene, shouting and irate. The officers stopped him, asked for his name and discovered there were outstanding warrants for his arrest.

They found the glass bottle in one of his pockets and Smith told them it was for drugs. Tests revealed cocaine residue.
