Logic Communications has upped the stakes in the Bermuda's technology market with the launch of two new services this week.

The Internet Services Provider (ISP) has announced it will increase the speed of its Premium Internet service and introduce a new service called Basic Internet.

Logic will increase the speed of the Premium Internet service to 4 megabits per second (Mbps) from 3 Mbps, but the price will remain the same at $99.95.

All customers, current or new customers switching to Logic, will receive the new speed at the same price.

"Logic is committed to making sure our customers get the best possible service; that includes customer care, a convenient store location, the best network on the Island, and the speed and value of our services," said Paul Coleman, vice-president of marketing at Logic.

"We have demonstrated our focus on the customer many times in the past with our Upgrade Promise: that we will increase the speed without increasing the cost. We know our Premium Internet customers are using the Internet more and more.

"Additionally many of Logic's Premium Internet service customers have 4 meg access from either BTC or CableVision, so naturally we wanted to make sure they get the best value for their money - we increased their speed to 4 megs and kept their price the same."

Also today, Logic will introduce its Basic Internet service for 256Kb at $29.95, which it claims to be the "best entry level Internet package in Bermuda".

The new Basic Internet service comes with Logic's upgrade promise, which means over time, when possible, it will increase the speed while keeping the price the same.

Additionally, the company will upgrade all existing customers on the 128 Kilobit package to the Basic Internet service, doubling their speed for the same price.

"Logic's innovative Colours of Logic deals, allowing customers to bundle Internet with the purchase of a new computer, Monday's introduction of Basic Internet service, and the frequent upgrades to Logic's existing services, such as Monday's speed increase for Premium Internet are proof that Logic is the leading Internet Service Provider on the Island," said Mr. Coleman. "Customers know this too - Logic won the most recent best ISP on the Island award."
