Hunt: When will Harbour View homes be ready?

St. George's South MP Donte Hunt urged Government to give a completion date for the Harbour View housing project as he pointed to "massive frustration" for its residents-in-waiting.

The Bermuda Democratic Alliance MP said the target had repeatedly been put back for the project in Southside, in which properties were promised to lottery winners in 2005.

Mr Hunt told the House of Assembly during the Motion to Adjourn yesterday: "I have had numerous complaints from various people who will be moving into that area. They have expressed massive frustration.

"People are staying with family members because they don't want to go into a one-year contract because they feel they will be moving into Harbour View."

Promises had been made that the homes would be ready in May last year, then by 2010, then by the middle of 2010, and then by October 2010, said Mr Hunt.

"When is it going to be completed and, even with that question, I query is this going to be the real 'date'," he said.

In July this year, then-Housing Minister David Burch stated in Parliamentary Responses to questions from the United Bermuda Party that the completion date was December 2011.
