Jolly hockey sticks? Not quite
Bermuda's young field hockey players were given a harsh lesson on how the game should be played in the Junior Pan-American Under-21 World Cup Qualifiers which took place in Mexico City recently.
In the opening game of the tournament, the Island team were thrashed 21-0 by the USA who surged into a 4-0 lead in the first 10 minutes.
And it didn't get much better for the Bermuda youngsters as the tournament progressed.
In a tough Pool B, they were thumped 14-0 by Chile and 9-0 by Trinidad and Tobago as the Island girls finished bottom of the group with 44 goals conceded and none scored.
That was followed by a 13-0 beating by Uruguay and a much more respectable 4-0 defeat at the hands of Barbados in a play-off for seventh and eighth place.
USA went on to win the competition with Chile second and Argentina third.
