Police warn of fake $100 bills being circulated
Counterfeit $100 bills have made their way into financial institutions and are also being circulated around the Island, according to Police.
The Bermuda Police Service Fraud Unit said it continues to receive reports of the notes in circulation.
Three main security features located on genuine notes are a tuna fish watermark, a silver security thread and a silver ship.
Police said in a press statement: "If a member of the public discovers the currency they received is counterfeit, we are encouraging them to turn it in to the nearest Police Station immediately.
"Do not try and spend it, as it is an offence to knowingly try and pass counterfeit money."
Members of the public are also asked to be vigilant and check their bills for authentication.
Anyone with any information about these counterfeit notes is encouraged to contact the Fraud Unit on 295 0011.
