Colts begin their hunt for Jones' replacement
Premier Division whipping boys Devonshire Colts have yet to find a suitable replacement for suspended coach Ray Jones.
Jones had a Bermuda Football Association (BFA) one-year probation substituted for a two-year ban from all football involvement by an appeals committee last week.
The disgraced BFA executive landed himself in hot water with local football's governing body for alleged remarks he made at top referee Ronue Cann during a November match involving Colts and Dandy Town at St.John's Field.
In Jones' absence assistant coach, Keishon Smith, is among those being considered to take over the helm of a winless Colts team that remain anchored at the bottom of the Premier Division with only two points from seven matches.
"No decision has been made yet, but Keishon is an option," a club source told The Royal Gazette.
n PHC hierarchy have yet to confirm whether or not Jack Castle will be allowed to resume duties as Zebras' assistant coach.
Castle recently had a club ban for "disorderly conduct" twice quashed on a technicality by an appeals committee but his future at Stadium Lane remains up in the air.
The outspoken coach has been approached by Hamilton Parish who are keen to have him come onboard at the Crawl Hill-based club.
n Dudley Eve finalists Boulevard Blazers held a full-scale dress rehearsal at Lords last Sunday where more than 25 players reportedly turned up for practice.
Blazers, who defeated PHC and Dandy Town en route to a first Dudley Eve final in nearly two decades, will take on the winner of tonight's match between Hornets and Devonshire Cougars at Somerset Cricket Club in the New Year's Day final at Lords.
